How is commercial epoxy different from a residential garage floor?

Commercial epoxy systems are heavier build (more mil thickness), often skip the decorative flake in favor of a solid color or quartz aggregate, and use harder topcoats spec'd to the traffic type. A forklift bay or a manufacturing floor sees rolling loads, impact, and chemical exposure that a home garage never does, so the system is sized accordingly. Residential and commercial both start with the same diamond-ground prep, then the spec diverges.

Can you do a commercial floor without shutting the business down?

Accepted Answer

Yes, in most cases. We schedule commercial installs in phases, sections, weekends, or overnights so the business stays open. Polyaspartic and fast-cure epoxy chemistry make multi-phase installs practical because each section can be back in service within 24 hours. We will work the schedule around your operation, including night shifts where it makes sense.

Auto repair shops, tire shops, detail bays, dealership service drives, showrooms, fleet maintenance bays, light manufacturing, food prep back-of-house, dental and veterinary clinics, breweries, fitness studios, and warehouse floors. We are not the right contractor for very large industrial pours (over 30,000 sq ft) or highly chemical-aggressive environments, but for typical Reno-area light-commercial work, this is in our wheelhouse.

Do commercial floors come with a warranty?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Commercial installs include a written workmanship warranty covering adhesion and coverage. The warranty terms vary by system and traffic class. The resin manufacturers also warrant their materials separately. We do not make blanket lifetime claims for commercial floors. For high-traffic commercial work we recommend a planned recoat of the topcoat every several years as part of routine maintenance, the same way a parking lot is restriped.
