Polyaspartic Garage Floor Coating in Reno, Nevada

Polyaspartic is the resin chemistry that made the modern single-day garage floor install possible. Where standard epoxy can take 24 hours per coat to set, a full polyaspartic system cures fast enough that the floor is rolled, flaked, and topcoated in one workday. Add UV stability and real cold-weather performance and you have a coating that is well suited to a Reno garage where the sun is intense and a multi-day shutdown is inconvenient. We install full polyaspartic systems and epoxy-polyaspartic hybrids across Reno and the Truckee Meadows.

What Polyaspartic Is

Polyaspartic is an aliphatic polyurea resin developed in the early 1990s, originally as a fast-curing coating for industrial steel structures. The chemistry was adapted for concrete floor coatings in the early 2000s and has been the high-end choice in resinous flooring ever since. Compared with standard epoxy, polyaspartic cures dramatically faster (often gel time in 30 to 60 minutes versus 8 to 24 hours), stays UV-stable (will not yellow under sunlight), and tolerates a wider range of substrate temperatures. The trade-off is cost: polyaspartic raw materials are more expensive per gallon than standard epoxy.

In modern garage floor systems, polyaspartic shows up in two ways. First, as a clear topcoat over an epoxy base coat (the hybrid system most Reno homeowners actually install). Second, as the full base coat and topcoat in a single-day install. Both have their place, and we install both.

Why Reno Homeowners Choose A Full Polyaspartic System

Our Single-Day Polyaspartic Install Process

  1. Morning: grind and prep. Crew arrives early. Walls masked, gear moved, diamond grinding to CSP 2 to CSP 3, cracks chased and filled, slab vacuumed clean.
  2. Late morning: base coat plus flake. Pigmented polyaspartic base coat is mixed, poured, squeegeed, and back-rolled. Color flake is broadcast into the wet base to refusal.
  3. Early afternoon: scrape and vacuum. After the short recoat window, loose flake is scraped down and vacuumed. The floor is prepped for the topcoat.
  4. Mid-afternoon: clear polyaspartic topcoat. The clear UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat is rolled across the entire floor.
  5. Late afternoon: walkthrough. We walk the finished floor with you, hand you a care guide, and you are done for the day. Foot traffic a few hours later, vehicles the next morning.

For most Reno homeowners the right answer is the hybrid: an epoxy base coat for cost-effective build, a flake broadcast, and a polyaspartic topcoat for UV stability. The full polyaspartic system is the right answer when speed, cold weather, or maximum hardness is the priority. We will give you both numbers at the quote and let you choose.
